Welcome to the unit - Different Worlds

In this unit students will study the film "Bride and Prejudice" in relation to the concept of Different Worlds. Through an analysis of these texts students will come to understand the complexities of social and cultural groups. Students will explore a variety of different worlds which allow them to gain insight into different places and different times. Students will investigate issues associated with racism, intolerance, morality and ethics within imaginary and ‘real’ worlds and consider how these reflect the director’s purpose and context. Students will reflect on how these texts challenge the status quo and cultural stereotypes and allow the responder to explore possibilities not yet considered. Responders are encouraged to use their imagination to see new ways of being.
